Equine therapy programme for children with ASD in Baix Llobregat
With ISTEA Association

For the second consecutive year, we have funded this project in collaboration with the ISTEA Association, which was created and endorsed by a group of psychologists specialising in ASD who volunteer their time to work with the organisation. Our role is to respond to the needs of families with children diagnosed with ASD, encouraging awareness and participation. This programme took place during the 2021–2022 school year and included 394 equine-assisted therapy sessions with recreational activities that support the integration of the children, aiming to provide them with tools for positive development. This year, 49 children aged between 4 and 18 with autism spectrum disorder have benefited from the programme. Many families with young people affected by this type of disorder live in precarious circumstances and lack the resources to provide them with specialised education.

Providing food for the solidarity economato in Barcelona
With Roure Foundation

Many families have been economically affected in the long term due to the pandemic. Social services have been unable to provide the necessary food donations because of the rise in the number of families facing precarious situations, including single-parent households and families where both parents are unemployed or without work. Roure Foundation, an organisation rooted in Barcelona’s Old Town, addresses the basic needs of the elderly and families. It offers personalised, comprehensive support to help them become self-sufficient and promotes the inclusion of individuals within the community network. This year, we are once again supporting the work of this foundation by funding the purchase of essential dairy products for over three months, ensuring the continuation of the Solidarity Grocery Programme and helping to prevent malnutrition and undernourishment among 340 children aged 0 to 16.

Social support for children from single-mother families in Barcelona
With Teresa Gallifa Foundation

Forty-nine per cent of single-mother families struggle to make ends meet, a situation that has worsened since the pandemic and becomes more severe with each additional child. Some of these women come from backgrounds involving violence and require comprehensive support, including both legal advice and emotional counselling. In partnership with the Teresa Gallifa Foundation, we work towards the social inclusion of pregnant women and single mothers, so they can experience motherhood with the support they need. Through this project, the basic needs of 50 children in situations of extreme vulnerability have been met. The support includes infant formula, cereals and purées, nappies, hygiene products, vaccines not covered by the public health system but recommended by the Spanish Paediatric Association, and other products necessary for the care of these children.
